I pulled into a parking spot one day and saw a bird sitting on the handle of a shopping cart. Had I not seen that bird I would have put my baby in that cart. If I had not had the Floppy Seat, he would have chewed on that handle. Gross!
On another day we went to Walmart and I put my son in the cart without the Floppy Seat. Within 3 days he came down with a terrible cold. We had not been anywhere for an entire week before or anywhere for the 3 days following the trip to Walmart. It was our only outing that day too. There is no doubt in my mind that he caught something off of that shopping cart. At the time he was not even in the stage that he would chew on it. It was entirely from touching the cart & putting his hands in his mouth. I have been much more diligent since then.
When you think about all of the germs, dirt, old food, etc. that can be in a shopping cart, you just can't even fathom sitting your child in it. I still use mine with my 4 year old!
